What Does  Excellent Piano Instruction Look Like?

It's customized to enhance your strengths and limit any weakness...all the while providing you with the most important principles of good playing.

Are you continuing your studies hoping to tackle some of the technical difficulties that haunt you?  Perhaps you've always wanted to play and are finally ready to take the leap!  Is there a child in the family interested in what playing the piano is all about?

My name is Laura and I've been teaching for over 23 years.  Students have been very young...and not so young.  It doesn't matter when you start.  It's about learning and understanding how to work in a way that gets you the results you want.

I can show you the tools!

I offer a courtesy 'get-acquainted' session to see if my approach and your expectations are a good fit!

STUDENT REVIEWS

One of the best decisions that I  have made as an adult is to take piano lessons, and I was very  fortunate to find Laura She's a wonderful musician, and a gifted  teacher.  While the process of learning an instrument as an adult can be  challenging, Laura has made it fun and enjoyable.  She is very  accommodating regarding scheduling, and since she comes to my house for  lessons it couldn't be more convenient.  I recommend Laura to anyone  wanting to learn piano -- you won't be disappointed.

~  Michael C.  Walnut Creek, CA

In a word, "Amazing."  My journey began with Laura when we engaged her to introduce piano to our granddaughter.  I was so impressed with her skill and ability that I signed up for lessons. My experience with Laura has been truly amazing.  Like the "Oracle," her instruction is unique to each student providing them with what they need to push beyond barriers. My time with Laura is cherished and I look forward to my weekly lessons.

~ Caroline T.  Lafayette, CA

Laura is an excellent piano teacher for both myself (44) and my two kids (6 and 10). She keeps things friendly and fresh with a wide range of music, and a method that emphasizes skill building over rote drills. I've seen a ton of improvement in both myself and my kids in less than a year.

~ Owen P.  Berkeley, CA

My 11 year old daughter really enjoys lessons!  Laura  introduces  her to appropriate material that is always interesting. The big surprise was my 7 year  old son...he announced that he hated piano, and would never take lessons.   After about four  months, he was sitting to the  piano without my reminding him to practice. He has really taken to lessons and Laura is very patient with his little-boyness. Both children are progressing quickly!

She is just what you want in an instructor, flexible, kind and engaging.  This is exactly what we  wanted in lessons.

"Practicing is a metaphor about working with the unknown. What is your capacity for ambiguity?

How fear-ridden is your whole being so that you have to mess up the stuff in order

to get a handle on how to work on it?

It's not finding a note,

pressing it, or digging at it, provoking it with the end of one's finger.

That's NOT music.

That's nothing!

All the notes and their different combinations are reflections of things on a hidden level."
